Job Title: IT Functional Lead - Warehouse and Distribution

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Functional Lead to oversee and optimize our Warehouse and Distribution systems. This role will be crucial in ensuring that our warehouse management systems (WMS) and distribution networks run efficiently, effectively, and are aligned with business goals. The IT Functional Lead will play a key role in the implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of our WMS, while leading cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other enterprise systems such as ERP, TMS, and 3PL partners. You will work closely with business units, IT teams, and external vendors to drive system enhancements and deliver best-in-class supply chain solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse and Distribution System Leadership:
- WMS Expertise: Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to streamline inventory management, order fulfillment, and warehouse operations, ensuring that systems are fully aligned with business needs.
- Process Mapping & Configuration: Map out existing warehouse and distribution processes, collaborate with business stakeholders, and configure the WMS to improve workflows, enhance inventory accuracy, and optimize space utilization.
- System Integration: Oversee the integration of WMS with other core business systems such as ERP, TMS, and 3PL platforms to ensure seamless data exchange, inventory tracking, and order fulfillment across the entire supply chain.
- Automation: Identify opportunities to automate warehouse processes (e.g., inventory replenishment, order picking, packaging) to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management :
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with business teams, including logistics, supply chain, and operations, to ensure that the WMS is supporting operational needs and driving improvements in warehouse and distribution processes.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders, including warehouse operations and business leadership, to gather requirements and define system improvements.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with WMS vendors and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure the systems are performing at optimal levels, and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Project Leadership & Execution :
- System Implementation & Upgrades: Lead and support the implementation, configuration, and upgrade of WMS and other distribution-related systems, ensuring that these projects are delivered on time and meet business requirements.
- Project Coordination: Develop and manage detailed project plans, allocate resources, and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of WMS and distribution system projects.
- Change Management & Training: Oversee change management activities, including training users on new system functionality, ensuring smooth adoption and minimal disruption to warehouse and distribution operations.
Data & Analytics:
- Reporting & Dashboards: Collaborate with business stakeholders to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure implementation of reporting capabilities provides visibility into warehouse and distribution operations.
- Data Accuracy & Integration: Ensure accurate and real-time integration of inventory and order data across systems (WMS, ERP, TMS) to provide a comprehensive view of supply chain operations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Process Optimization: Continuously assess and improve warehouse processes through system enhancements, configuration changes, and process redesigns that optimize inventory management, reduce lead times, and improve order fulfillment efficiency.
- Best Practices & Innovation: Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging technologies in warehouse management and distribution. Recommend innovative solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Lead the resolution of system-related issues and support troubleshooting efforts to ensure minimal disruption to warehouse and distribution operations.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in WMS (e.g., Manhattan Associates, Swisslog) or Project Management (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in IT, with at least 3-5 years specifically focused on Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), distribution operations, and supply chain technology solutions.
- Hands-on experience with WMS solutions (e.g., Manhattan Associates, SAP EWM, Oracle WMS, etc.).
- Proven experience in integrating WMS with other systems (e.g., ERP, TMS, 3PL) and using integration methodologies (e.g., EDI, APIs).
- Experience working in warehouse operations, inventory management, and distribution strategies.
- Proven experience leading system implementation projects in a warehouse/distribution environment, including defining requirements, configuration, and user adoption.
Skills & Competencies:
- WMS Functional Expertise: Strong knowledge of WMS functionality, including inventory management, order picking, shipping, receiving, and overall warehouse optimization.
- Warehouse Operations Knowledge: In-depth understanding of warehouse processes and best practices, such as space utilization, order fulfillment, and inventory replenishment.
- Systems Integration: Experience in integrating WMS with ERP, TMS, and 3PL systems, ensuring smooth data flow and efficient operations across the supply chain.
- Project Management: Strong project management skills, including experience with planning, executing, and leading WMS-related projects, managing resources, timelines, and budgets.
- Data & Analytics: Ability to design and implement reporting tools and dashboards to provide actionable insights into warehouse and distribution performance.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve issues quickly and efficiently while minimizing operational disruptions.
- Communication & Leadership: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams.
- Change Management: Ability to manage change, including training and supporting users as new systems and processes are implemented.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cloud-based WMS solutions or SaaS platforms.
- Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
- Experience with 3PL management and integrating third-party logistics into WMS and supply chain operations.
