R&D IT Solutions Lead, Laboratory Systems
The R&D IT Solutions Lead, Laboratory Systems is responsible for defining and supporting the building of valuable, feasible, viable, and usable products and technical solutions that meet customer needs. Techno-Functional Consultant with expertise in Empower Chromatography Data System (CDS), Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and other R&D application implementations to support digital transformation initiatives at Vantive. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, hands-on implementation experience, and business process understanding to configure, integrate, and optimize these systems within a regulated environment.
The ideal candidate will work closely with lab scientists, IT teams, validation experts, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment, customization, and compliance of owned R&D applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Implementation & Configuration of Empower CDS, ELN and other R&D apps
- Lead end-to-end implementation of cloning Empower Chromatography Data System (CDS), Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and other apps in R&D by collaborating with SI partners and vendors.
- Perform system configuration, customization, and validation to align with laboratory workflows.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs), templates, and user access controls for compliance and efficiency.
Technical Expertise & System Integration
- Configure and integrate R&D applications with other laboratory informatics systems.
- Provide hands-on scripting and troubleshooting of system errors, data workflows, and integration challenges.
- Implement data migration strategies for legacy system transition of the owned applications
- Support API development, system interoperability, and automation for lab processes.
Business Process Analysis & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with scientists, analysts, and business users to gather requirements and translate them into system functionalities.
- Design and optimize workflows to improve lab data capture, analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct user training sessions, workshops, and documentation development to drive system adoption.
Compliance & Validation Support
- Ensure applications deployments meet GxP and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 standards.
- Assist in computer system validation (CSV) activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ documentation and audit readiness.
- Develop and maintain system risk assessments, validation scripts, and traceability matrices.
Support & Continuous Improvement
- Provide post-implementation support, troubleshooting, and enhancements for system stability.
- Monitor system performance, user feedback, and upgrade opportunities.
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in laboratory informatics.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or other related fields.
- 8 + years of experience in Information Systems, experience in multiple areas of IT.
- 3 - 5 years of experience in Empower CDS and ELN implementation & support.
- Strong knowledge of chromatography workflows, lab informatics, and scientific data management.
- Hands-on experience with system configuration, scripting, and integration (LIMS, ELN, Data Lake, Cloud Platforms, etc.).
- Experience with 21 CFR Part 11, GxP compliance, and validation documentation.
- Strong understanding of SQL databases, APIs, and lab system interoperability.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with Agile methodologies and digital transformation in lab environments.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or other cloud-based solutions for lab informatics.
- Proven strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
- Solid digital/technical skills foundation and ability to translate business needs.
- Customer centric and empathetic.

- Experience related to Software as Service (SaaS)
- Experience with Agile project methodology
- Experience with ITSM Process; experience with Service Now or Jira is preferred.
