Summary:
Material Handler works with EHS by maintaining specified systems such as disposal/proper handling of solvent, EO, metal, plastic, and other items.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these are primary responsibilities of the role and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned):
- Performs the following tasks:
- Sampling of waste water and sewer sampling
- Picking up and emptying raw material alcohol/water and solvent containers
- Filling solvent containers
- Completing chemical logs
- Moving EO drums by coordinating with Sterilizer Operators
- Cleaning and fueling company vehicles
- Loading metal recycling
- Defacing drum labels and draining drums prior to recycling
- Calling recycling center to schedule pick-up.
- Loading plastic scrap
- Picking up used batteries and other recyclables
- Assisting with pest control.
- Annual training in Hazardous Waste Handling, Department of Transpiration, Waste Sampling Techniques, Pest Control, SPCC, Storm Water, etc.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Qualifications):
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must be able to safely operate forklift and Doosan
- High School diploma or GED
- Industrial experience preferred.
- Valid drivers license to drive company vehicles
Physical / Safety Requirements
- Requires walking, lifting up to 60 pounds to heights of 4 ½ ft., lifting container that weigh up to 100 lbs., moving 55 gal barrels that are full, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, climbing, and carrying.
- Will work with chemicals and in outside environment year round.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (steel toe shoes, face shield, chemical goggles, apron, and gloves).
- Must be medically cleared to wear respirator and work with hazardous waste and must pass forklift physical.
- Duties may require overtime work, including nights, weekends, shutdowns, and holidays
- Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment is required
- Position requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Requires Hepatitis B immunizations (3 injections.)
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- This is a safety-sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.
