Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal \Senior Principal Data Scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring 8+ years of hands-on experience in data science, with a proven track record in AI/ML applications within healthcare industry. This role will lead end-to-end AI/ML solution development, collaborate with KOLs, support regulatory submissions (NMPA/FDA), and collaborate cross-functionally to bring impactful AI-driven products to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the AI innovation from 0 to 1 involving design, development, validation, and deployment of AI/ML models focused on Vantive solutions (e.g. prescription, diagnostics, decision support, patient monitoring, etc).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including regulatory, clinical, engineering, product, customer service and quality to ensure AI models meet performance, business and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with local cross-functional teams, global teams, KOLs and 3rd party vendors to deliver AI Solutions.
- Own AI components in regulatory documentation and submissions, including algorithm description, validation studies, risk assessments, etc.
- Translate complex healthcare problems into AI-driven solutions with measurable clinical impact.
- Drive data acquisition, curation, preprocessing, and pipeline optimization for training and validation datasets.
- Stay current with latest advances in AI/ML, regulatory trends, and healthcare standards.
- Act as a strategic partner in defining AI product roadmap and innovation strategy.
- Ability to clean and preprocess healthcare data, including missing data imputation, outlier detection, and feature engineering
Required Qualifications
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, or related field.
- 8+ years of professional experience as a AI/ML, including at least 4+ years in healthcare/medical industry.
- Strong track record of leading or co-leading AI product development from concept to launch.
- Experience in working on regulatory submissions involving software as a medical device (SaMD), including interaction with regulatory bodies (e.g., NMPA/FDA).
- Deep understanding of AI/ML methodologies (supervised/unsupervised learning, deep learning, time-series, NLP, etc.).
- Experience with advanced statistical methods, such as survival analysis, time-series forecasting, Bayesian statistics, and causal inference.
- Strong programming skills in Python (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
- Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, DICOM) and real-world data (EHR, claims, registries).
- Solid understanding of model validation techniques, cross-validation, and hyperparameter tuning.
- Advanced experience with SQL and database management for querying and handling large-scale datasets.
- Ability to deploy models in production environments, using technologies like Flask, FastAPI, or other RESTful API frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical content to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience in AI for diagnostics, remote monitoring, digital biomarkers, or clinical decision support.
- Publications or patents in applied healthcare AI.
- Experience in GMLP (Good Machine Learning Practices) and model lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworks (e.g. China Data Privacy, HIPAA, GDPR) and best practices in managing patient data.
