The EHS Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety programs within Vantive Castlebar and Swinford. This role will work closely with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.

Responsibilities of the EHS Coordinator:

  • Assist in the overall development, evaluation, administration and implementation of EHS policies and programs.
  • Through collaboration with EHS Manager, assist in the management of site activities, which impact areas of EHS regulatory compliance with National and local regulations.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and administration support on all EHS regulations to impacted groups
  • Co-ordinate hazardous and non-hazardous waste management contracts
  • Prepare and/or assist with composing regulatory, corporate and facility reports.
  • Provide required, specialized training to Vantive employees.
  • Co-ordinate the Emergency Response Team program
  • Actively engage with employees to create an inclusive / ownership culture for Safety.
  • Motivate, energise and influence to ensure fresh and leading edge EHS programs, initiatives and activities are effectively implemented.
  • Maintain EHS KPIs ensuring they are continuously up to date. Attend and chair safety committee meetings to drive positive action and performance.
  • Attend and support safety forums, provide direction for forums to ensure focus on key safety topics, provide safety information as relevant, and influence management and employees to ensure active engagement.
  • Lead EHS Risk Assessment program and ensure all elements of facility, equipment, tasks, ergonomics and chemicals are appropriately risk assessed. 
  • Support accident/incident investigation to ensure appropriate root cause analysis completed and CAPAs implemented.
  • Coordinate EHS promotional activities to create a culture of engagement.
  • Complete regular audits to ensure the business meets all EHS Regulatory and Corporate requirements and engage relevant team members on the GEMBA.
  • Perform EHS Change management review(s) for any new equip/process within the site.
  • Lead campus-wide EHS programs as assigned
  • Identify, develop, and implement EHS improvement projects.
  • Ensure that EHS communication and training plans are maintained and implemented.
  • Evaluate new initiatives, projects, and plans from an EHS perspective for the organization
  • Document, Promote and track EHS Observations.

Education and experience required:

  • Third level qualification in Environmental Science and Health & Safety or EHS discipline.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position in manufacturing industry, or other highly regulated environment, will be required.
  • Previous experience in managing Environmental Health & Safety programme is strongly desirable.
  • The candidate must be capable of working on his/her own initiative, possess strong communication skills and be capable of conducting detailed research on environment and safety issues.
  • Previous experience working to ISO14001 and OSHAS 18001 international standards, preferably within a pharmaceutical environment would be beneficial.
  • Team player, capable of working within a multi functionary team environment.
  • Self-directed, capable of using own initiative to make EHS improvements.
