The Data Visualization Platforms Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, architecture, governance and operations of the organization’s enterprise reporting and analytics platforms—including Tableau, Power BI, IBM Cognos, and Oracle APEX.
This role ensures high‑quality, scalable, secure, and user‑friendly analytic solutions that empower business teams across functions while enabling self-service analytics and consistent visual standards across the organization. This role combines technical depth, platform ownership, people leadership and stakeholder partnership. The manager leads a team of platform administrators support team, and analysts; partners closely with Data Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance, and business stakeholders to deliver insights at scale.
Responsibilities:
Own the enterprise visualization strategy across Tableau, Power BI, IBM Cognos, and Oracle APEX.
Develop the platform strategy, roadmap, and governance framework ensuring alignment with enterprise data, reporting, and analytics goals.
Drive standardization of reporting tools, visualization patterns, and semantic models across platforms.
Evaluate emerging tools, licensing models, growth trends, and cost optimization opportunities
Define platform standards, reference architecture and best practices.
Oversee provisioning, configuration, performance management, installation, upgrades, patching and lifecycle management of all visualization platforms.
Manage user access, security roles, row/column-level security, and integration with enterprise identity systems (SSO, Okta/Azure AD).
Establish enterprise standards for dashboards, KPIs, semantic layer modeling, and data consumption.
Implement and enforce governance best practices: version control, release management, QA processes, and content certification.
Monitor platform performance, scalability, and availability.
Establish SLA, capacity planning, and license optimization.
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security, audit and regulatory requirements.
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of platform support team, administrators, and analysts.
Conduct technical reviews, performance tuning, optimization, and platform troubleshooting.
Ensure seamless integration of visualization tools with enterprise data platforms including data lakes, data warehouses, and MDM.
Define architecture for dataset preparation, semantic models, reusable data layers, and governed self-service models.
Partner with Data Engineering on data pipelines and with Data Governance on lineage, catalog, and quality standards.
Act as the SME advising business leaders on the best-fit visualization tools for use cases.
Drive user enablement programs: training, office hours, community of practice, best-practice guides, and certification pathways.
Champion visualization excellence, data storytelling, and adoption of enterprise analytic standards.
Monitor platform usage, licensing, cost, and usage analytics; drive optimization strategies.
Lead root-cause analysis of failures, service degradations, and integration issues.
Key Experiences & Attributes:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or relevant subject area
Minimum 5-8+ years of experience in managing visualization platforms, with at least 3–5 years managing data visualization platforms teams through Agile methods.
Significant experience in leading teams in Data & Analytics programs with experience in native digital technologies (cloud, big data and predictive) in organizations driving product development.

Strong knowledge of business process flow and/or entity relationship modeling.
Demonstrated outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with other technology teams as well as business partners. Ability to effectively present information, interact with, and respond to questions from managers, employees, customers, and vendors
Platform Certifications in Tableau, Power BI, Cognos, or APEX preferred
Strong understanding of data warehousing, semantic layer modeling, star/snowflake schemas.
Experience integrating BI tools with Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, SQL Server, Oracle DB, S3, and enterprise data hubs.
Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines (Glue, DataStage, Informatica, DBT, ADF).
Understanding of metadata management, data cataloging, and lineage frameworks.
Experience in PowerShell and other scripting languages to manage server backup and recovery.
Strong SQL across Snowflake, Oracle and similar platform
Understanding of ETL/ELT and data pipelines
Experience with Azure, AWS and OCI

Experience in Power BI Server administration, workspace management, premium/Fabric capacity/Dataflows, DAX expertise, semantic modeling, gateway configuration, RLS/OLS, report optimization, enterprise deployment pipelines.
Experience in IBM Cognos Analytics/TM1 Server administration,Framework Manager modeling, report studio/dashboard modules, multi-package governance, scheduling/bursting.
Experience Oracle APEX Server administration, Low-code application development, interactive reports/forms, data modeling, APEX workspace management, integration with Oracle DB/REST APIs.
Experience in scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash/Python for backup and recovery
