The role:
The Technology Delivery and Operations, Commercial Sales & Marketing IT Leader is accountable for the delivery of all Commercial Sales & Marketing-based applications that enable our Commercial Sales & Marketing teams to grow their market while meeting their profitability objectives. In this leadership role, you will manage a mixed model of internal resources and external partners to support as well as create new applications to maintain and grow our business. The leader will be accountable for the delivery of differentiating capabilities of a Commercial Sales & Marketing across different domains such as sales, marketing, service, manufacturing, digital product platforms, and other functions as required for differentiation in Commercial Sales & Marketing.
The role is a part of the Commercial Sales & Marketing IT leadership team and will be a peer to Commercial Sales & Marketing business relationship managers and our Commercial Sales & Marketing solution and product management team, while working with corporate IT functions that own enterprise platforms and applications. The role will need to help bring balance by ensuring that we utilize Commercial Sales & Marketing specific development only when delivering Commercial Sales & Marketing-specific and differentiating capabilities while advocating for enterprise products and platforms when differentiation doesn’t create business value.
The Commercial Sales & Marketing IT Leader is responsible for various aspects of technology within the Commercial Sales & Marketing, provides the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to support the development of technology solutions to ensure that solutions meet business needs and align with architectural governance and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the delivery of Commercial Sales & Marketing capabilities not part of the product portfolio or enterprise platforms and applications.
- Accountable for budget management of all Commercial Sales & Marketing-based projects and application support for Commercial Sales & Marketing applications not managed as a platform service or enterprise application.
- Responsible for the optimization of the delivery model for new development in the Commercial Sales & Marketing.
- Owns the solution design and architecture for all Commercial Sales & Marketing-specific applications.
- Constantly pursues the rationalization of applications with redundant capabilities and finds the right balance of Commercial Sales & Marketing application needs versus features in global products and platforms, working across Commercial Sales & Marketing product owners and enterprise technology leaders to make that determination.
- Works with the centralized IT-sponsored strategic vendor management team to provide constant input into vendor reviews and strategic vendor discussions to optimize the value we receive from our primary vendor relationships.
- Active participant and influencer in our operational and QBR meetings with our primary support partner.
- Accountable for the relationships of our software vendors and secondary managed service providers not managed centrally that are particular to the assigned Commercial Sales & Marketing.

Translates Business Strategy into Solutions Architecture
- Understands business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determines corresponding system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
- Understands emerging technology trends and disruptions and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to enable new and evolving business and operating models.
- Translates business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to achieve business objectives and documents all solution architecture design and analysis work.
Facilitates and Collaborates to Deliver Business Outcomes
- Works closely with the product owners and product managers to ensure a robust architectural runway that can support future business requirements throughout the product lifecycle.
- Partner with application architects within agile teams to ensure the project or product is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
- Consults with application and infrastructure development projects and products to fit systems or infrastructure to architecture and identify when it is necessary to modify projects to accommodate the solutions architecture.
- Engage with developers, architects, designers, hardware engineers, project managers, and management teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 10+ years of experience in managing third-party IT providers.
- 10+ years of experience managing people.
- Prior responsibility with +$2 million/year capital products/projects
- Technical Acumen to convey and collaborate around the development of the desired functionality particularly with cloud applications.
- Strong understanding and working experience with Agile approach and culture.
- Ability to work with multiple geographies in a multicultural environment
- Excellent customer-facing written and oral communications skills.
- Ability and maturity to communicate and manage stakeholders up to the highest levels of the organization globally, regionally and locally
- Understanding of regulations to consider in the life sciences industry (quality, security, data privacy).
- Demonstrated understanding of functional capabilities such as commercial enablement and manufacturing execution systems.
- Excellent Functional Process Knowledge/Business Acumen for their subject matter area
