We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Microbiologist to support microbiological testing and monitoring activities across manufacturing and quality operations. This role will be responsible for routine testing, environmental monitoring, investigation of microbial contamination, and supporting GMP compliance within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine microbiological monitoring of:

    • Starting materials
    • Finished products
    • Environmental control systems
  • Conduct microbiological testing associated with production, including:

    • Bioburden testing
    • Pyrogen/endotoxin testing
    • Streaking and microbial enumeration
  • Carry out microbiological testing on:

    • Water for Injection (WFI) systems
    • Cleanroom environments (Grade A and Grade C areas)
    • Personnel and surface samples
  • Identify microorganisms isolated during testing and:

    • Investigate sources of contamination
    • Collaborate with the Quality team to determine root cause
  • Work cross-functionally with the Quality Group to:

    • Eliminate actual and potential contamination risks
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Generate, maintain, and ensure compliance with:

    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for microbiological monitoring
    • Documented procedures and testing records
  • Monitor and communicate adverse trends in microbiological results

  • Support and participate in:

    • Microbiology-related validation projects
    • GMP training programmes
  • Provide training and guidance to production and quality personnel on:

    • Good microbiological practices
    • Cleanroom behaviours and contamination control
  • Ensure adherence to all GMP, regulatory, and internal quality requirements

  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Education Requirements

  • Third-level qualification (Honours Degree) in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline
  • Relevant experience in a similar field may be considered in lieu of formal qualification

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in a microbiology or pharmaceutical environment is desirable but not essential (full training provided)
  • Strong analytical and technical abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good understanding (or willingness to learn) of GMP environments
