Operational Excellence Co-Op Placement 2027

Location: Vantive Manufacturing, Castlebar, Co. Mayo
Department: Operational Excellence
Placement duration: Six months or longer
Working arrangement: Full-time and onsite

About the Opportunity

Vantive is offering an exciting Co-Op placement for a student studying Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Data Analytics, or another relevant engineering or analytical discipline.


Based at our Castlebar manufacturing site, you will support Operational Excellence initiatives focused on improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness, manufacturing performance, process standardisation, waste reduction and digitalisation.


You will have the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical manufacturing environment while helping the business improve productivity, efficiency and asset utilisation through data-driven decision-making.


What You Will Work On

As an Operational Excellence Co-Op, you will support projects such as:

  • Developing and enhancing site OEE dashboards.
  • Supporting real-time production data collection and reporting.
  • Developing Power BI dashboards and other performance-monitoring tools.
  • Analysing manufacturing data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Categorising and analysing equipment downtime.
  • Identifying performance losses, constraints and production bottlenecks.
  • Supporting root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Automating KPI reporting to reduce manual reporting activities.
  • Supporting process mapping, standardisation and waste-reduction initiatives.
  • Tracking project tasks, actions and deliverables through automated systems.
  • Presenting findings and improvement recommendations to operational teams.

What You Will Learn

During your placement, you will have the opportunity to develop experience in:

  • Overall Equipment Effectiveness analysis.
  • Power BI dashboard development.
  • KPI reporting and performance measurement.
  • Manufacturing data analysis and performance trending.
  • Downtime analysis and equipment utilisation.
  • Lean principles and Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Root-cause investigation and structured problem-solving.
  • Process mapping and process standardisation.
  • Digitalisation and automated reporting.
  • Project management and action tracking.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Presenting technical findings and recommendations.

Training and Support

You will complete the necessary site induction, GMP, safety, quality-system and compliance training. You will also receive training and exposure to the site’s current OEE processes, Power BI systems and manufacturing performance tools.


You will work as part of the Operational Excellence team, with daily support and regular check-ins provided by experienced Operational Excellence engineers. You will also collaborate with colleagues across Operations, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Automation and Controls.
