Category Manager – Resin
Your Role at Vantive
As a Category Manager – Resin, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing Vantive’s global procurement strategy for the resin category. You will be responsible for managing a spend of approximately $21M+, working with a supplier base of 25+ vendors, and supporting operations across multiple manufacturing sites in the Americas.
In this role, you will drive strategic sourcing initiatives, ensure supply continuity, and build strong partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver cost efficiencies, mitigate risks, and enable business growth
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and execute end-to-end strategic sourcing and category management for resin procurement.
- Develop and implement category strategies to optimize supplier base, reduce single-source dependencies, and drive annual cost savings.
- Manage supplier relationships, including performance tracking, risk assessments, and mitigation plans.
- Negotiate and oversee multi-million-dollar contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms and long-term value.
- Deliver against cost improvement targets (MIP) and PPV objectives at both category and plant levels.
- Partner cross-functionally with stakeholders (e.g., operations, quality, finance) to align procurement strategies with business needs.
- Support supplier quality management, ensuring timely resolution of issues and continuous improvement.
- Ensure supply continuity across multiple plants in the Americas, proactively managing risks and disruptions.
- Drive cross-functional projects to completion in a global, matrixed environment.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in resin procurement or a related category, with strong subject matter expertise.
- Solid understanding of complex pricing models, cost structures, and supplier profitability.
- Demonstrated success as a skilled negotiator, with experience managing high-value contracts and strategic supplier relationships.
- Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing tools such as RFQs, cost breakdown analysis, benchmarking, value analysis, and value engineering.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to drive initiatives to completion in a cross-functional environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a global, matrixed organization, influencing stakeholders and building strong partnerships.
- Experience in supplier risk management, quality, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Industry experience in pharma, medical devices, or food manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., CPM) preferred.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.
- Willingness to travel 10–25% globally.
