About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Energy & Utilities Engineer to take overall responsibility for Utilities and Energy Management at our Liverpool site. This is a high-impact role, combining engineering excellence, asset reliability, energy optimisation and sustainability leadership.

You will own the site’s utility assets, ensuring they are managed and maintained in line with RCM methodology, supported by CAPEX investment. You will also lead our energy management strategy, delivering measurable improvements through behavioural change, process optimisation and capital projects — all while supporting our 2030 “Protect Our Planet” goals.

This role offers the opportunity to shape long-term energy strategy, influence site-wide behaviours, and drive tangible sustainability outcomes in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

As Energy & Utilities Engineer, you will:

  • Lead utilities and energy management across the site, ensuring reliability, compliance and efficiency
  • Carry out and oversee fault finding, problem solving, and planned & preventative maintenance to maximise equipment performance
  • Support and deliver site commitments to the 2030 sustainability and environmental goals
  • Develop, coordinate and implement energy reduction strategies and policies
  • Drive the adoption of renewable and sustainable energy solutions, raising awareness and engagement across the site
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance and training on energy efficiency and utilities to site teams
  • Benchmark energy consumption against best-in-class standards, using robust monitoring and data analysis
  • Lead and deliver energy-related CAPEX projects from identification through implementation
  • Own and deliver a comprehensive RCM plan for all critical utility assets, aligned with LEP and LMP principles
  • Take full ownership of pest control activities across the site

About You

You are an experienced utilities or facilities professional who enjoys balancing hands-on engineering, project delivery and strategic energy management. You are comfortable influencing stakeholders, driving change, and working in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, Sherpa or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards within Pharma or Food manufacturing
  • Engineering qualification and experience in mechanical and/or electrical disciplines
  • Formal energy management qualification (or demonstrable equivalent experience)

Experience Required

  • Proven experience in energy data collection, analysis, management and reporting
  • Track record of delivering CAPEX and engineering projects
  • Experience in Utilities and Facilities Management, with particular expertise in steam generation
  • Familiarity with RCM-based asset management and reliability-driven maintenance strategies

    Why Join Us?

    • Play a key leadership role in our sustainability and energy agenda

    • Drive meaningful change linked to our 2030 environmental commitments
    • Work on complex utilities systems in a technically stimulating environment
    • Influence site-wide performance through innovation, engagement and engineering excellence
