Summary

The Cluster Snr Medical Manager will provide clinical and technical expertise to the specified Therapeutic Areas (TAs) and will have clinical knowledge for the entirety of the product line(s) related to these TAs.

Together with the Regional Medical Director the Cluster Snr Medical Manager is accountable for the development and implementation of the medical strategy downstream from Global TA.

The Cluster Snr Medical Manager is responsible for aligning the Voice of Customer with the respective Global Therapeutic Area Leaders and clinical development teams. Critical to this role is the clinical knowledge of therapies and product lines with the ability to offer guidance for product support and product development.

This position, in addition, will support Chronic team members within the region, to align strategic imperatives and their development together with the EMEA Medical Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the cluster business strategies and tactics to optimize markets for current and future products and development of rational strategic and tactical plans (like launch plans, AOP). Also, in exchange and collaboration with Cluster Medical Managers of other clusters in the same area of TA expertise.
  • Provide clinical expertise for the creation, development and delivery of high value-added medical-to-medical educational programs that support commercial team’s efforts.
  • Develop and deliver medical-to-medical evidence-based presentations and discussions to external medical teams and HCPs to support therapy adoption.
  • Support for and in-field coaching of cluster MSLs and team members to develop team capabilities and medical excellence.
  • Role modelling for MSLs and new team members in both internal and in the field medical affairs activities.
  • Identify and engage with KOLs and “rising stars” of the respective area of responsibility, establish and maintain peer-to-peer relationships to build awareness, proper use and investigate new uses of Vantive’s products.
  • Liaison with medical organizations and external subject matter experts (KOL’S) within the scope of the Therapeutic Area, e.g., as clinical investigators or scientific consultants.
  • Responsible for creation and facilitation of scientific Advisory Boards and regional projects.
  • Provide scientific support and attendance at conferences and meetings in the respective areas of responsibility.
  • Review/approve cluster related advertising and promotional, as well as scientific and educational, materials within the therapeutic areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure all cluster advertising and promotional, as well as scientific and educational materials comply with country requirements.
  • Provide input into clinical research strategy and facilitate Phase IV clinical research like registries for launch and licensed products and give input on new product development for successful launch into the marketplace.
  • Maintain knowledge base for developments and trends in medical sciences.
  • Maintain current familiarity with the published medical literature relating to the product lines so that information can be provided to relevant groups relating to clinical trends and their potential impacts on the product lines.
  • Responsible for cluster and regional project medical grant and budgets management in area of TA expertise.
  • Ensure relevant and appropriate responses to customer medical inquiries.
  • Be compliant with Ethics, Compliance, internal and external policies

Required Skills 

  • Formal medical, clinical or scientific education and/or relevant industry experience in Medical Affairs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in the local language and English
  • Expertise in clinical presentations and medical education
  • Effective interpersonal, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and in groups in a collegial manner to manage projects and timelines
  • Effective critical thinking skills and strategy development
  • Excellent medical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of healthcare regulations for medical communications.
  • Must be able to provide guidance and training to the team regarding applicable GCP and compliance requirements and guidelines.
  • Excellent presentation and teaching skills.
  • Collaborative.
  • Initiative-taking with exceptional follow through.
  • Excellent skills for building and maintaining good relationships with KOLs/key experts.
  • Willingness to travel (>50% time out of office)

Role requirements

  • 10+ years post graduate experience within the health care industry is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience
  • Clinical trial experience with working knowledge of GCP is beneficial
  • Recent or ongoing work in a clinical position is desirable, as is experience in teaching/in-servicing other health care professionals.
  • Computer literacy and Windows Office skills
  • Experience with literature review, synthesis, and analysis
  • Experience in public presentation required

​​Education

  • MD (Medical Doctor) and/or PhD and/or equally academic qualified healthcare professional. Degree in medical/natural science (PhD, MD) preferred.
