The China Commercial IT Lead is the senior technology partner that drives commercial IT Transformation for China and is accountable for:
- Business Relationship Management, shaping commercial technology strategy and accountable for business model Technology enablement
- Leading end-to-end deployment and delivery of commercial solutions that drive revenue growth, improve customer engagement, enable compliant operations, and enhance patient and clinician outcomes indirectly through superior commercial execution.
This role owns the China Commercial IT portfolio (demand, roadmap, value realization) and ensures successful delivery of complex solutions across CRM/SFA, customer engagement, trade/channel, eCommerce/ordering, pricing/CPQ, data & analytics, and integration with ERP and service ecosystems—while meeting strict MedTech requirements for privacy, cybersecurity, quality, and regulatory compliance.
This role we have direct team responsibility (BRM and Commercial Solution Delivery team, 3-5 people) and indirect team responsibility (other Global IT members dedicated to China).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What)
Business Relationship Management (BRM) & Strategy Alignment
- Act as the single point of accountability for China Commercial business relationship, fostering strong partnerships with business stakeholders across all commercial domains.
- Define and drive the 3-5 year China Commercial IT strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities while shaping global platforms to reflect China market needs.
- Build deep understanding of local technology development, industry best practice, business priorities, KPIs, and market dynamics; translate business strategy into a 3–24-month technology roadmap that balances global platform alignment with China market needs.
- Lead structured demand intake and prioritization with transparent governance, ensuring investments are tied to measurable outcomes (revenue growth, productivity, conversion, HCP/Hospital engagement, account penetration, channel excellence).
- Own China Commercial IT portfolio and roadmap (prioritization, sequencing, funding, resourcing, and performance management), aligned to global/region strategies while addressing local requirements and regulatory constraints.
- Facilitate governance cadences (monthly/quarterly) including demand intake, prioritization, portfolio reviews, and value tracking.
- Ensure post-go-live benefits realization through adoption measurement, operational KPI tracking, and iterative enhancements.
- Drive strategic technology investment decisions for China Commercial IT, balancing growth, compliance, and efficiency outcomes. Drive effective decision-making with clear business cases**, including value, benefits, cost, risks, and adoption readiness, and change effort; drive investment decisions with data-oriented recommendations.
Solution Deployment & Delivery (End-to-End Execution)
- Partner with business to optimize operation efficiency and effectiveness leveraging technology/AI capabilities
- Lead the planning and execution of solution rollouts in China (e.g., CRM, SFA, marketing automation, trade promotion, data & analytics, etc...)
- Lead agile delivery of major commercial initiatives across the lifecycle: discovery, requirements, design validation, build oversight, SIT/UAT, cutover, hyper care, and transition to support.
- Ensure deployments meet standards for quality, security, data privacy, compliance, performance, and sustainability.
- Manage delivery partners and vendors: scope, milestones, deliverables, budget, and performance; ensure contractual adherence and value for money.
- Drive disciplined delivery and strong program governance through agreed frameworks (Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid), including RAID management (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), scope control, milestone tracking, and executive reporting.
- Oversee and assure **go-live readiness**: training, comms, data migration, integration stability, support model, and business continuity plans.
MedTech Compliance, Risk & Quality-by-Design
- Ensure solutions and processes comply with **MedTech regulatory and quality requirements**, including:
- Data privacy and protection (local China requirements + company/global policies)
- Cybersecurity controls and secure architecture patterns
- Appropriate validation/controls for systems impacting regulated processes (as applicable)
- Audit readiness and evidence management for controlled processes
- Partner closely with QA/Compliance, Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to embed **compliance-by-design** and reduce delivery risk.
Adoption, Change Management & Value Realization
- Partner with business owners to build adoption plans: training, communications, role-based enablement, super-user networks, and success measures.
- Ensure solutions are fit for purpose and drive business outcomes; track realized benefits and KPIs post go-live.
- Collect user feedback and continuously improve processes and technology via enhancements and backlog management.
Architecture, Integration & Data (Commercial Landscape)
- Partner with with enterprise architecture and platform teams to ensure solutions align to target architecture and global standards while meeting China requirements.
- Ensure key integration touchpoints and robust integrations across all Commercial technology (ERP, master data, order management, data platforms).
- Promote data quality and governance for key commercial domains (Customer, Product, Pricing, Promotions, Territory).
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Leads cross-functional leadership alignment between Commercial Business Leaders in China and Global IT leadership levels.
- Partner with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Data/Analytics, Compliance, and Procurement to ensure end-to-end readiness.
- Represent China Commercial IT in regional/global forums and ensure effective two-way communication.
Vendor, Partner & Financial Management
- Tracks external MedTech trends in China, translating them into competitive capabilities.
- Manage strategic vendors/SIs and SaaS partners: selection, contracting, delivery quality, SLA/OLA adherence, and cost-to-serve optimization.
- Own portfolio budgets (OPEX/CAPEX as applicable), financial forecasts, and investment proposals; drive productivity and reuse through platform standardization.
Leadership, Talent & Operating Model
- Provide leadership to local China Commercial IT team (and/or virtual squads), defining clear roles, performance expectations, and capability development.
- Build a high-performing cross-functional delivery ecosystem across product teams, PMO, data, cybersecurity, and support functions.
- Promote engagement, inclusion, and a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centric delivery.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (How)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in IT, digital, or technology roles with strong exposure to Commercial domains.
- 7+ years leading complex programs/portfolios with proven delivery outcomes and executive stakeholder management.
- Demonstrated expertise in commercial platforms (CRM/SFA, customer engagement, analytics, integration patterns) and ability to lead cross-functional delivery at scale.
- Strong command of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks in regulated or highly controlled environments.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin (business level), able to communicate effectively with both local and global stakeholders.
- Experienced in global matrix coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in multinational or matrix organizations with global platforms and China localization needs.
- Familiarity with common commercial ecosystems (examples): Salesforce, JDE, Adobe/marketing platforms, data platforms (Azure, Databricks) and modern integration (API-led, event-driven).
- Professional certifications (nice to have): PMP / PRINCE2 / Agile (SAFe, Scrum), ITIL foundation. security/privacy foundations are a plus.
