Mobile Platform Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Mobile Platform Engineer to support and evolve our cloud platforms and mobile application operations. This hybrid role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys automation, operational ownership, and cross-platform support, spanning cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and mobile app lifecycle management.

You will work closely with DevOps, platform engineering, and security to ensure reliable deployments, secure configurations, and efficient day‑to‑day operations across cloud and mobile ecosystems. You will establish mobility platforms that service the enterprise and interface with the public.

This role emphasizes operational excellence, automation-first thinking, and continuous improvement, while offering exposure to modern DevOps tooling and enterprise-scale mobile platforms.

Key Responsibilities

DevOps & Platform Operations

  • Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines for cloud and mobile applications using tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket, and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows.

  • Assist with cloud infrastructure operations in AWS and/or Azure, including:

    • Compute, networking, storage, and IAM basics

    • Monitoring, logging, and cost-awareness practices

  • Contribute to Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK) for repeatable, auditable environments.

  • Participate in incident, problem, and change management, helping to diagnose deployment and build failures, environment issues, and platform defects.

  • Collaborate with security and architecture teams to help implement secure-by-default platform configurations.

Mobile Operations (iOS / Android)

  • Support operational aspects of mobile app delivery, including:

    • Apple App Store and Google Play Console maintenance

    • App IDs, provisioning profiles, signing certificates, and keystores

  • Assist with mobile app signing, re-signing, and release preparation for enterprise and public distributions.

  • Help manage push notification configurations (APNS and Firebase Cloud Messaging).

  • Partner with mobile developers to ensure smooth build, test, and release workflows.

  • Support MDM / enterprise mobility platforms (e.g., Intune, MobileIron) used for internal or enterprise app distribution.

  • Procure or establish new platforms to enable self-service for common mobility tasks

Automation & Tooling

  • Write and maintain scripts and small automation tools (Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar) to reduce manual operational toil.

  • Assist in creating internal self-service tools or operational workflows where appropriate.

  • Contribute documentation and runbooks for repeatable operational tasks.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work alongside DevOps, Mobile, Security, and Networking teams to resolve issues and deliver platform improvements.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives).

  • Help identify opportunities to improve reliability, automation, and developer experience.

Required Qualifications

  • 1–4 years of experience in DevOps, platform support, cloud operations, mobile operations, or a related engineering role.

  • Hands-on experience with at least two scripting languages:

    • Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar

  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and build/release pipelines.

  • Basic understanding of:

    • Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)

    • Networking fundamentals (DNS, certificates, load balancing basics)

  • Exposure to mobile app ecosystems (iOS and/or Android) in an operational or support context.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and an operational mindset.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with:

    • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)

    • Docker or container-based workflows

  • Familiarity with mobile development concepts or tooling:

    • Xcode / Swift, Android Studio / Kotlin / Gradle, Fastlane, or similar

    • Hybrid mobile app tech stacks that utilize HTML / JS / CSS (e.g. - Cordova, Ionic, etc.)

  • Knowledge of:

    • MDM platforms (Intune, MobileIron)

    • App Store Connect or Google Play Console

  • Exposure to security, compliance, or governance-driven environments.

  • Experience documenting processes and supporting offshore/onshore delivery models.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • CI/CD pipelines and mobile releases run more reliably and with less manual effort.

  • Operational issues are diagnosed quickly with clear documentation and follow‑up.

  • Manual mobile operations (certs, signing, store updates) are increasingly automated or simplified.

  • Strong collaboration across DevOps, mobile, and security teams.
