The Head of HE, China is a senior leadership role accountable for shaping and leading the Health Economics strategy for China. This role will provide strategic thought leadership on health system trends, policy evolution, reimbursement dynamics and economic evidence needs, translating external insights into actionable access strategies that support patient access and strengthen the value proposition for Vantive’s chronic and acute portfolios.

As the functional leader for Health Economics, the role is responsible for setting direction, prioritizing resources, supervising the development and dissemination of pharmacoeconomic strategies and tools, and ensuring strong alignment with Medical, Market Access, Government Affairs, Commercial and global teams so that clinical and access strategies are grounded in robust economic evidence and adapted to China market needs.

The role will act as a strategic partner and influencer to senior business leaders, enabling the commercial force, marketing teams, health professionals and administrative stakeholders to understand therapy value, economic impact and access implications. The Head of HE will also build organizational capability by translating complex health economics concepts into clear, practical insights for decision making.

The Head of HE must demonstrate strong leadership in navigating the access process for new health technologies in China, proactively identifying clinical, administrative, policy and economic barriers, and leading cross-functional actions to address them in support of sustainable access and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic discussions with business unit, product, access, government affairs and medical leaders to define HE priorities, evidence plans, studies and therapy economic tools aligned with portfolio and access objectives.
  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in Health Technology Assessment, reimbursement policy, real-world evidence and health economic evaluation to guide strategic decision making.
  • Oversee the design and development of high-quality HE models, value tools and evidence-generation initiatives based on representative clinical and pharmacoeconomic studies, local data needs and identified evidence gaps.
  • Ensure economic evaluations, evidence outputs and stakeholder materials meet high standards of quality, integrity, compliance and timely delivery.
  • Champion the use of credible official sources, local evidence and external insights to generate compelling analyses, presentations and value narratives for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner with global teams as the China HE voice to ensure global strategies reflect local market nuances and, where required, lead local evidence generation to address China-specific access and payer requirements.
  • Provide leadership support for Government Affairs and Market Access engagement by shaping evidence-based narratives, preparing for key stakeholder discussions and ensuring follow-up actions are connected to broader strategic objectives.
  • Build and lead the HE function with clear priorities, strong governance, effective cross-functional collaboration and a culture of accountability, strategic thinking and continuous capability development.

Experience & Education Requirements:

  • Proven experience of market access in China including HTA, reimbursement and evidence generation
  • Experience of at least 2 out of the following: Health Economics and Outcomes Research, Health Technology Assessment, Market Access, Real World Evidence (RWE)
  • Minimum of 10 years in field of Health Economics and Market Access in China
  • Experienced in collaborating and publishing with KOLs
  • Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD) in health economics, HTA and or Statistics
